Got Vape’s DJ Boogi Sets the Tone for Boys 2 Men Concert
By: Kahinano Donlin
Anaheim, CA- The House of Blues hosted a very special evening with R&B Icons Boys II Men on Jan 31st , with a special opening set by Got Vape’s own DJ Boogi.
With a career span of over 16 years, these legends are the most successful pop group of all time. It was a huge honor for DJ Boogi and Got Vape to be a part of their historic performance.
We pulled up to the backstage area around 6:30pm; the show was scheduled to start around 7pm with DJ Boogi setting the mood for a full night of R&B.
The staff at the HOB was extremely friendly and they helped get DJ Boogi set up in under 10 minutes. I decided to take a little stroll outside to see what the crowd was like.
To my surprise, fans were already lined up all around the bend! Anyone who questioned Boys II Men’s ability to pack a full house after all these years would be severely misguided!
By 7:30pm, the entire floor was packed and they were grooving to the smooth sounds of DJ Boogi’s set.
“When they approached me about doing the show, I was completely honored,” said Dj Boogi. “I used to dress like boys to men growing up, now 16 years later here I am the opening act for these R & B Legends.”
With the All-Access passes, we had the privilege of moving through all 3 floors of the venue without getting stuck in the crowd.
This resulted in some great Got Vape photos. I popped into the VIP area to chat with them before the performance.
I was amazed just how down to earth this legendary R&B group was. In fact only a hand full of guests were apart of their entourage in the Green Room.
An hour later, everyone at the sold out show made their way onto the dance floor and DJ Boogi finished with some old school Jodeci to hype the fans up before the performance.
The Got Vape Crew posted up with a great view right inside of the DJ Booth. So when the curtains opened and Boys II Men came out, we felt the loud roar of the excited crowd.
After watching two classics, “Thank You” & “On Bended Knee” we had to take advantage of our credentials and head to the backstage.
As a celebrity based company, we are excited about being a part of quality events. Even though this was an R & B show, Boys II Men are legends and everyone at Got Vape was moved by their set.
They frequently interacted with their fans, at one point a few lucky girls standing up front received roses from the group. I must admit, Boys II Men knew exactly how to treat their female fans.
With well over a decade of experience and smash hits, it was like a jukebox of quality songs right there live, literally 5 feet next to us. Yes having All Access has a lot of advantages!
The 90 minute set concluded with the timeless “Motown Philly.” During that song, I looked to my right to see Brian McKnight getting down backstage like a fan that paid to see the show.
My first response was, “These guys are so huge that other superstar artists are fans of Boys II Men too!”
Boys II Men have sold over 60 million records throughout their career, yet they are so down to earth it’s unbelievable.
We really appreciated them taking the time to chat and take pics with the Got Vape Crew. Boys II Men, formally known as Wanya Morris, Shawn Stockman, and Nathan Morris are not only legends, but also role models for millions of fans around the world.
When the show was all wrapped up, Got Vape was very blessed to be a part of this show.
