Huntington Beach, CA- Acropolis Rpm & GotVape.com held a special event at Kona Bar & Grill in Huntington Beach with Hawaii's Natural Vibrations Sunday May 5th. This was the last stop on their West Coast Tour so the band was really fired up about the performance.
The "Lu'au De Mayo" event featured a whole day of great food, music, drinks and fun. Dj's Mo: Rockin & Civilin started the party off by spinning mellow reggae beats while the crowd filled in.
The other artists that came to entertain the crowd helped make the entire event a success. The Got Vape Crew set up the show with Banners & Got Vape Health brochures.
Around 6pm we started up with the bands. Seedless, a rising local group performed a bunch of songs that had a mellow Cali Reggae flow. Their set tied in perfectly with the reggae crowd.
The next act, Priesthood, had a very unique hip-hop/island sound. They performed a strong set for 30 minutes that energized the crowd, making a bunch of new fans along the way.
Once the sun started to set, Barikuda blessed the microphone with his talented lyrical skills. Living in Long Beach, Barikuda is starting to get a lot of attention and respect for his musical work all over OrangeCounty. After his set finished, it was time to set up for the opening act, Natusol.
Natusol has been up in the OrangeCounty area for a couple years, with a fan base increasing after each show. They combine a mix of R&B, funk, Reggae, and soul into a perfect melody that had the crowd rocking. The energy that this band presented totally set the tone for Natural Vibrations.
By 9:30pm it was time for Natural Vibrations. These guys have stayed together for over a decade, allowing them to refine their trademark "Jahwaiian Reggae" Sound. Everyone at the show started chanting for the band during the first song.
Natural Vibrations played songs from all 5 of their albums perfectly. Seeing the band perform this amazing set made me feel like I was in Hawai'i again! Each song made the crowd groove, with fans singing along to all the lyrics.
The boys rocked an hour set, but that wasn't enough. Since it was the last stop on the tour, Natural Vibrations honored the crowd with 2 encores. After the show finished, we headed over to the band's hotel room for a celebration, Got Vape style!
Got Vape's Green Room program has successfully educated many artists about the health benefits involved with Vaporization, so I was looking forward to "Vaping with the Vibes."
We ended up hanging out for a couple of hours and I can tell you that Got Vape is proud to call everyone in Natural Vibrations a friend!
The Got Vape Crew was asked by Natural Vibrations to roll out with them in August to Reggae Rising in Humboldt. We are very grateful for the opportunity and it will be an amazing festival.
According to their bio, Natural Vibrations have recorded five albums in the last 11 years: Balls Rolling - 1996; All Natural - 1998; Getting High - 2000; The Circle - 2003; From the Heart - 2007.
They have won multiple awards for Best Reggae Album and hit the Billboard Reggae Chart in 2002 and again in 2007.
Their latest release, "From the Heart," is their first release since 2003. Vibe fanatics have been anxiously awaiting this new CD, and they we're not disappointed.
Natural Vibrations' homegrown songs are described as "rootsy, funky, rock steady and romantic, with a touch of dub," and shows the growth and progress of
The Vibes as a band that is ready to break out and become the next major international artist from Hawaii.
