Los Angles, CA - The 2008 Street Sounds Festival took place in Los Angeles at the famous Shrine Auditorium on April 5th.
The lineup included legendary Underground Hip-Hop performers Dilated Peoples, KRS One, Talib Kweli, and M.O.P!
With so many big names and thousands of fans, you know Got Vape was there to represent and spread the buzz about Vaporization.
The Hip-Hop scene in LA is huge! Besides the headliners, a talented line-up of other performers included: Psycho Realm, Planet Asia, Strong Arm Steady, Rob Hipnotik, and DJ Truly Odd.
The show had promotions all over the radio and magazines, so a large crowd was expected for sure.
The Got Vape Van rolled out in the afternoon and we started to set up around 5pm. The hommies at Toys in the Attic & Blue Geisha Tattoo were asked to be vendors at the show, so naturally they had to have Got Vape come along and do some top-notch marketing!
We set up the whole performance & VIP area with Got Vape Banners in about an hour. With the show set to start at 7pm, the Got Vape promo team had some time to hang out backstage and do some networking for future events.
The Got Vape Lanyards once again proved to be a necessity when the promoters ran out of backstage passes. I was able to hook up Evidence from Dilated Peoples with a lanyard and some Got Vape SWAG; he was way down with Got Vape and gave us a shout out during the show!
By 8pm, the show just started and the crowd was flowing through steadily. Everyone really got going when Planet Asia took the stage.
This Fresno based MC is one of the big movers in the alternative hip hop scene. We cruised into the arena and found some loyal fans enjoying the set. I made sure to deck the girls out in Got Vape Lanyards, t-shirts, and stickers.
A huge surprise occurred when Evidence of Dilated Peoples came on stage and said he was singing just one song. With the crowd confused, what was billed as a solo performance, turned into a full blown Dilated Peoples show!
DJ Babu & Rakaa Iriscience cruised out after the first song, adding another level to the already positive vibe. Everyone was singing along to classic tracks like, "Work the Angles," "Worst comes to Worst," and "The Platform." They performed for nearly an hour!
The good times kept on coming with Talib Kweli taking over the show. He flowed out anthems like, "Get By," "Good to You," and "I Try," while all the fans were bouncing along to the beats by DJ Hi-Tek.
Watching Kweli from the backstage area was truly an honor since he is such a highly regarded MC. In fact, he is one of the few artists that sounds just as good live as in a studio!
By midnight the fans were anxious to see Hip Hop Legend KRS One, without hesitation he jumped on stage and started to perform with Talib Kweli. Everyone in the Shrine went nuts when this happened.
They performed around 4 songs together then Talib left the stage and KRS One closed the night out. The entire Got Vape crew had a chance to watch the end of the show from the VIP area.
We made sure to hand out more Got Vape T-shirts to all the sexy girls! All together was a super show that left the fans stoked. I'm excited that Got Vape was able to spread our positive message about Vaporization & Your Health.
