and Overnight Celebrity on constant rotation. Your
own song's Through the Wire and All Falls Down are
also in constant demand. How does it feel to be
so hot right now?
Kanye West: I love it man. It's the best
of both worlds. I love making tracks for artist
who I feel can represent my beats the right way.
People like Twista, Ludacris, Jay-Z, Alicia Keys,
Talib Kweli.
Those artists move me. So I love making a classic
track for a classic artist. As for my own songs
that's a dream come true. No one even wanted me
to release Through the Wire as the first single
and look how many people are feeling that joint.
Scam Artist: Why didn't you go with a
big arena tour out of the gate?
Kanye West: I've been on some huge tours
with Rocafella and I also went on the road with
Talib Kweli in smaller settings. I saw two different
aspects. I wanted to have my College Dropout tour
start out in smaller venues like House of Blues.
I like to get up close and personal with the crowd
and this spot provides that atmosphere. I feel the
energy from the crowd because I feel it's my core
audience.
Scam Artist: You have been to Cali a
few times what do you like most about it?
Kanye West: I really love the women in California.
There are just so many shapes, sizes, and colors
of beautiful women out here.
Scam Artist: I recently heard you talk
on one of the local radio stations about a saying
you have. It was "fake it till you make it".
I thought it was a dope quote. Tell the people what
it means?
Kanye West: I was telling the interviewer
that not until recently did I start to get real
expensive jewelry. My earrings weren't real Daisies.
I was trying to shine, but without wasting all my
money. So I had the saying fake it to make it. Don't
go broke trying to outshine someone on jewelry.
