Does the VaporBuddy Vaporizer Contain Lead?
Before we address the issue of the VaporBuddy Vaporizer containing lead, we will examine the history of this product as well as other units on the market.
Several years ago, a company called VaporPro invented a vaporization chamber that fit inside custom made vapor bowls. The unit worked with a lighter, but was able to produce vapor in conjunction with a water pipe.
The VaporPro was basically a metal filter that used a series of screens to diffuse the flames heat over the ground herb in the glass vapor bowl and through a user inhaling through the water pipe.
Almost a year later a company by the name of VaporGenie came out with a vaporizer, that is still on the market today called the VaporGenie Vaporizer.
The VaporGenie had a similar design to the VaporPro Vaporizer, in that it had filter that diffused the flame, instead of a series of screens, the VaporGenie features a Carbon filter.
The VaporGenie was a great improvement over the VaporPro in that the carbon based filter did a vastly superior job conducting heat and that the VaporGenie was basically a pipe, so all you needed was a lighter.
As in many cases, the new superior technology blossomed and has since done very well in the market place. VaporGenie has also filed for a patent which to date is still pending most likely due to the fact that smoking has existed for 1000’s of years, so the US Patent Office takes a quite a bit longer to deal with and approve.
Fast forward a few years, a new vaporizer hits the market called the VaporBuddy. This unit seemingly has built upon the technology introduced a few years prior by the VaporGenie.
There were some key differences, like instead of a wooden body, the VaporBuddy featured a brushed aluminum chassis and a choice of 4 colors, applied with powder coat.
Offering four different colors was definitely appealing to people looking for a portable vaporizer. So both the VaporGenie and the VaporBuddy were performing well here in the US market. Seemed as if retail shop owners liked being able to offer their customers as many options as possible, as GotVape.com does.
Seems the VaporBuddy did to well though, as this vaporizer attracted the attention of unscrupulous parties, that had the VaporBuddy Vaporizer “knocked off” in China.
A quick comparison would be authentic Women’s Designer Hand Bags and Purses or perhaps Men’s high end watches. I think we’ve all encountered in person, over the internet or were emailed spam with outrageous offers of Rolex’s for $50 or Louis Vuitton purses for $30.
Most of us understand the difference between authentic purses and watches and first sign is a seller we’re not familiar with or a major price difference.
Now with the VaporBuddy knock-off how would a consumer or a retailer for that matter know the difference, they basically looked the same as the real ones.
The key differences were that they filter used was ineffective and didn’t function, a visual comparison between the VaporBuddy knock-off and the authentic VaporBuddy one would notice that the filter on the knock-off was a great deal more porous, had bigger holes and also the color of the VaporBuddy knockoff was shiner and definitely different then the authentic VaporBuddy Vaporizer.
The reason the color was off was because the authentic VaporBuddy Vaporizer used a powder coat application for the color as opposed to China using a Lead Based Paint, big surprise considering all the recalls we’ve had in the recent years.
So what does this mean to the vaporizer consumer? It means the claims made by VaporGenie Vaporizer stating that the VaporBuddy Vaporizer contains lead are absolutely correct.
But and that’s a big BUT, the authentic VaporBuddy Vaporizer which GotVape.com has featured on our site don’t contain levels of lead considered harmful.
So the things you need to know are that there are two versions of the VaporBuddy on the market, an authentic one that is completely inert and a knock-off that contains dangerous amounts of lead.
We have both test results conducted independently by the same lab, LA Testing (714) 828-4999 at the request of the owner of VaporGenie.
Key Factors:
- FACT: There are 2 different VaporBuddys
- Authentic VaporBuddy Vaporizer which GotVape.com and select retailers carry.
- Knock-Off VaporBuddy Vaporizer from China that contains Lead.

As we’re not scientists and your probably not either, basically your seeing that the Knock-Off Vapor Buddy Vaporizer contains unacceptable amounts of lead and doesn’t work on a fundamental level.
Where as the Authentic VaporBuddy Vaporizer contains inert levels and are completely harmless.
So realize this before making a purchase, the VaporGenie and the VaporBuddy Vaporizer are both great vaporizers and whichever you choose you will enjoy.
Just be weary of which model of VaporBuddy you purchase, but with this information it should be a breeze..
