This newer unit is actually only 80% as large as the Puffit 1 and this helps to make it look even more like an authentic asthma inhaler. Much added functionality has been garnered with the new modular design. It has a removable core which will allow you to change the outer shell whenever you feel like it. Right now you can only choose between black or blue shells but the company is making plans to release some different shell designs.
The removable inner core can be separated into two the separate elements of the heating chamber and the battery. On this newer design the battery has 75% more capacity and since it is detachable, you have the option of carrying around a spare battery in your pocket. That way, when the first battery goes dead, you won't be left feeling like you wish you were dead.
The two pieces of this vaporizer solidly lock together and the entire build of the inner core feels sturdy and functions flawlessly. When it comes to durability and craftsmanship, the Puffit 2 truly inspires confidence for the user. The redesign of the heating chamber offers additional functionality and boosts performance.
Although this is a dry herb vaporizer, it does also give you the ability to use concentrates. There is a hinged opening that is held shut by a strong magnet to on the bottom of the unit and there is a whole with a metal screen and this is where the vapors will pass through to your lungs. Getting your materials into an out of the screen is easy and simple.
For better conductivity, a new alloy has been added to the chamber. Yes, this does indicate that the Puffit 2 is a conductive vaporizer. Since this is the case, better results can be had when the chamber is packed solidly. This will ensure that more of your materials come in contact with the walls. The chamber is fairly small so each session will only use up a small amount of materials.
On the front of the heating chamber you will find a temperature setting button. It includes LEDs to indicate the temperature. You can also use that gauge in order to check the level of the battery. After the inner core has been inserted into the shell you won't see the lights at all, and this is another function that adds to the stealthiness of this unit.
The new haptic feedback system is quite impressive. Instead of flashing LEDs, the unit actually vibrates in order to let you know what is happening with the unit. Once again, this is all done in the name of stealth.
Each session will be started by placing dry herbs into the heating chamber and packing them tightly. Insert the core, press down for a few seconds and then wait for the unit to vibrate. This indicates that it is beginning the process. It will give you a double vibrate every few seconds just to let you know that it is still heating up.
When you feel it vibrate twice, with two long vibrations, this means that it has reached the target temperature and it is ready for you to use. Then all you need to do is suck on the mouthpiece in the same manner as you would do if you were actually using an asthma inhaler. The very first cycle does not produce as much vapor as the following cycles. Just something to keep in mind.
When you have gone through approximately 4 cycles, it is then time to stir the herbs. There is a metal stick included with the unit for just this purpose. After you give it a stir, you can go another four cycles and you will know that it is time to replace materials as the herbs will taste a little toasted. The battery will last for about 50 cycles but even when it's running low you can get the full effect as it still does reach full temperature.
