The additional customizability of these devices is what draws many vaping enthusiasts to the style, even though it does require more effort than standard electronic vaporizers. This roll of Kanthal wire is ideal for making these coils, and the braided design is made for use in an electronic atomizer.
Buying Kanthal wire by the roll is much more cost-efficient than buying a new coil every time a replacement must be done. Not only is the material more affordable in this bulk form, but since the wire hasn't been pre-rolled into a coil shape, you can create the exact coil size for your own personal device. It is presumed that only serious fans of vaping will attempt to build their own coils, although the process is surprisingly easy once you learn the basic steps.
One of the most appealing aspects of building your own Kanthal coils is that they require no complex steel frame. Building and changing these coils requires nothing more than a screwdriver and a pair of pliers. First, take a portion of the Kanthal wire and wrap it tightly around the neck of the screwdriver. It should be noted that this will only work with a smaller screwdriver, and many people might rather use a 1/16 drill bit as the frame for the coil. In either case, continue to wrap the Kanthal wire around the frame, being careful to keep the coil as tight as possible. Refrain from allowing any space between the wire as it wraps around the center frame. Most coils will need 8 rotations around the frame for the ideal size, but your device may vary.
Once the coil is finished wrapping, simply pull it off the screwdriver or drill bit and clip the wire so that about half an inch of Kanthal is left on each end of the coil. These end pieces will then attach to the postholes on the inside of you tank, which can then be tightened into place. Depending on your device, you can add a wicking material if necessary. Cotton tends to work most effectively.
