Dab Pens & Wax Pens

A dab pen is used to vaporize concentrate. You load a small amount onto the coil or ceramic dish inside, set a heat level and inhale. It does the job of a dab rig without a torch or a water piece.

It is a form of vaping, but not the same as a cartridge pen. A dab pen vaporizes loose concentrate you load yourself, where a cartridge pen heats a sealed pre filled cart. Same principle, different material and different device.

Unscrew the mouthpiece to expose the coil or dish, use a dab tool to place a small amount of concentrate on it, then replace the mouthpiece. Start with less than you think you need.

Quartz heats faster and produces bigger, harder hits. Ceramic heats more slowly and generally preserves flavor better. Neither is objectively better, they suit different preferences.

Let it cool, then wipe the coil and chamber with a cotton swab dipped in isopropyl alcohol. Do it every few sessions. Residue is the usual cause of a burnt or muted taste.

With regular use, a few weeks to a couple of months. Coils are consumable. When flavor drops off and cleaning does not bring it back, replace it.

Generally no. A dab pen chamber is built for loose concentrate. If you want to run carts, a 510 thread battery is the right device.

Concentrates carry far more active material by weight than flower, so the effect from the same volume is considerably stronger. Start with an amount smaller than a grain of rice at the lowest heat setting.
