Rolling Trays

A rolling tray is a shallow tray with raised edges used as a work surface. The lip catches whatever falls, which is the entire point of owning one.

Small trays around seven inches suit a lap and travel. Larger trays around eleven inches hold a grinder, papers and a jar at once. Buy the larger one if it stays on a table.

Metal wipes clean in seconds and survives being dropped. Wood is quieter, warmer to work on and looks better on a surface. Neither performs differently.

Some do. A magnetic or fitted lid turns the tray into storage and keeps the contents out of sight, which is worth having if it does not live in a drawer.

Wipe metal and glass with isopropyl. For wood use a barely damp cloth and dry it, since soaking raises the grain and traps residue.
