Electric Nectar Collector Troubleshooting Quick Guide

In a rush to get back to your session? Here is a fast breakdown covering the essential steps to diagnosing and fixing your electric nectar collector:

1. Check the 510 Battery Connection

If your battery is fully charged but the lights blink rapidly when you try to hit it, you are almost certainly dealing with a connection issue. In order for an electric nectar collector to work, the heating tip and the battery must have a clean electrical connection.

As you dab, hot wax can melt and seep down through the tip, eventually coating the connection. Because wax is an electrical insulator, it completely blocks the power from reaching your coil and overtime leads to the whole shebang breaking down on you.

• Allow your nectar collector to cool and then unscrew the heating tip from your battery.
• Take a cotton swab slightly dampened with isopropyl alcohol and wipe away any sticky resin from the gold battery contact and the bottom of the tip.
• Let it air dry completely before reattaching.

You don't even need to be experiencing issues to do this tip, as periodically checking and wiping things down is the #1 way to prevent them from becoming a problem in the first place. 

2. Inspect and Replace Your Heating Tip

If your electric nectar collector is fully charged and firing, but the vapor production is weak, heat up time is incredibly slow, or everything tastes like burnt sludge, your coil is likely dead or dying.

Unlike glass nectar collectors that can be torched clean indefinitely, the ceramic or quartz heating coils on an electric nectar collector are considered consumable parts that will inevitably need replacing. 

Over time, residual wear from your dabs will bake into the porous materials and lead to your tip delivering sub par clouds, tainted flavors, and an overall reduced level of output.

• Wait until your nectar collector cools
• Remove the nectar collector tip
• Hold a moment of silence for your fallen nectar tip
• Replace it with a new one
• Use proactive maintenance to delay your next replacement

Ultimately when a tip is burnt it's done for, so don't suffer through awful clouds and instead do right by yourself (and your dabs!) by swapping things out with a replacement part for your electric nectar collector.

3. Clean the Vapor Pathway

If the electric nectar collector fires perfectly but you feel like you are sucking through a blocked straw, you are dealing with a physical clog inside the airway of your device that needs to be removed before continuing. 

This is caused by reclaim building up inside the narrow tubes of your nectar collector, forming blocks that overtime solidifying on you and prevent any of your precious vapor from flowing through.

• Wait for your nectar collector to cool and power off
  
• Disassemble all parts of your electric nectar collector 
• Use a pipe cleaner or a long cotton swab dipped in isopropyl alcohol to push out any stubborn globs of reclaim trapped inside the vapor tube and mouthpiece.
• Let everything dry thouroughly
  

Clogs operate just about how you'd expect in an electric nectar collector and cleaning them is just as straight forward. Simply remove what you can and break out the isopropyl alcohol to get to the heart of the issue. 

It may require a couple of passes, but you should be able to get even the worst of nectar collector clogs remove with the help of your two best friends isopropyl alcohol and cleaning swabs.  

4. Adjust Your Heat / Voltage Settings

If your vapor is way too harsh, or conversely, if you aren't getting any clouds at all, you might be using the wrong voltage setting on your electric nectar collector for your specific type of concentrate.

Hitting delicate live rosin on the highest voltage setting will scorch the terpenes, while hitting dense diamonds on the lowest setting will just melt the wax without vaporizing it, making the entire process a delicate balancing act.

• Cycle through the voltage settings
• Drop down to the lowest setting for maximum flavor and smoothness. 
• Bump it up to the highest setting for massive, potent clouds.
• Always run a pre-heat cycle to warm the tip before taking your first hit.

The only fix here is good old fashioned experimentation, as only after you swap up settings and test your concentrates will you be able to have the first hand knowledge to fix your issues. 

Every electric nectar collector will interact differently with your wax, so always make sure to give a little time for adjustment and try out the other heat settings before throwing in the towel.  

5. Try A Concentrate Dish Instead Of A Jar

Are you accidentally melting your entire gram of expensive wax every time you take a hit? Or is your nectar tip simply overwhelmed with the sheer amount of concentrates and having trouble working? 

This can all be solved with the help of a concentrate dish in which to place your materials in preparation for dabbing. By reducing how much concentrate is warmed, your entire process is made that much easier and more precise.

• Get a dedicated dab dish
• Use a dab tool to scoop out a small, session sized portion of concentrate and place it onto your dish.
• Hit your nectar collector out of this dish to protect your main stash from heat degradation.
• Rinse and repeat!

Remember that you can't place concentrates on just any surface due to how hot electric nectar collector tips get during use. This means you need a dedicated concentrate tray made of safe materials like borosilicate glass or quartz. 

6. Master Your Draw Technique

If your device is clean, heating correctly, and you are using a dish, but you are still sucking up liquid wax into the mouthpiece, the call may actually be coming from inside the house and be the result of your (incorrect) drawing technique.

Ripping an electric nectar collector as hard as you can creates a massive vacuum. This physically pulls the liquid wax through the center of the heating tip faster than the coil can vaporize it, instantly clogging your device instead of vaping correctly.

• Change your technique to "Sip, Don't Rip."
• Hold the device at a 45-degree angle and lightly graze the outside edge of your concentrate puddle.
• Sip gently and steadily from the mouthpiece. 

Like with changing up your sessions, altering your draw strength is something you'll have to experiment a little bit with to get the hang out. Don't worry though, in a couple of sessions you'll quickly figure out what works and what most certainly does not. 

7. Examine Your Battery and Charging Cable

If your electric nectar collector is completely dead and refusing to turn on, even after you plugged it in for hours, look at your charing cable and power source. 

Using a high amperage "fast charger" block (like those meant for laptops) can overwhelm your electric nectar collectors battery management system, causing it to refuse the charge to prevent a short circuit.

• Inspect your USB-C cable for frays.
• Swap it out for a brand new cable and test.
• Plug it directly into a standard wall adapter or a USB port to see if the device begins to accept the charge.
  

If your electric nectar collector still won't charge properly this means that you may have internal battery damage and frayed wires. This is when you look for your manufacturer warranty in order to get things fixed.
